Straight From My Heart to Yours

Straight From My Heart to Yours

A writer admits that words sometimes get in the way of communication.

Words upon words,
We’ve been talking for hours.
Why does it feel
Like nothing was said?
I used to think words
Had magical powers.
Now I just hear them
Alone in my head.

Both of us know
We ought to know better,
Building this wall up,
One look at a time.
Where is the love
That binds us together?
We’ll never find it
Just speaking our minds.

CHORUS
But once in a while,
I feel this emotion.
I can’t play it in song,
Or say it in words.
It flies like a spark
The space that we open
Straight from my heart to yours.

Late in the night,
We’ve given up trying,
Packed up our anger
And laid it to rest.
When I awake,
I find myself lying,
Wrapped in your arms,
My breast to your breast.

CHORUS

Once in a while,
I feel this emotion.
I can’t play it in song,
Or say it in words.
It flows like a stream
That’s seeking the ocean,
Straight from my heart to yours.
