Lighthouse

Lighthouse

Standing on this open shore,
I’m staring at the sea,
Waiting for a ship to come,
To bring you home to me.
Although you’re right beside me,
You are lost in your own thoughts,
Afraid that any wind you seize
May drive you to the rocks.

CHORUS
But I will be your lighthouse,
A beacon in your storm.
I will be your lighthouse,
To guide you through to calm.
Oh, let me show your shattered ship
The way into this cove.
Turn in my direction
And receive the beam of love.

I look into your sunken eyes.
They don’t look back at me.
I can’t believe that where you’ve gone,
Is where you want to be.
I wish that I could bring you back,
But all that I can say,
Is, if you let your anchor go
I’ll be with you all the way.

CHORUS

It’s the tiniest of gestures,
A stirring in the sand,
But now your eyes are flickering,
And you’re holding out your hand.
We are still far out to sea, my love,
But turning towards the land.
